First Aid
Empowered Parents is a first aid course that is intended to equip and empower parents, caregivers, grandparents and wider whanua (family) of pēpi (baby) and tamariki (children). Get trained in first aid for children, and feel empowered, equipped and confident to act in an emergency!
Course is run over 2-3 hours, depending on group size.
NZ Resuscitation council and ANZCOR guidelines
Not NZQA accredited, however follows same guidelines

What you will learn... -Gain confidence to act in an emergency -Learn and practice up to date basic life support techniques, including infant and child CPR, and choking first aid
What topics are covered? The course covers (but is not limited to) : -Getting help in an emergency -Infant and Child basic life support techniques, including CPR -Choking prevention and management of obstructed airway -AED use -First aid topics include: -Anaphylaxis/allergies -Asthma -Head injuries -Febrile Seizure -Burns -Poisons -Recognising sickness in children -Safety in the home
Can I bring my pēpi(baby) to the course? Babies under 1 years of age are welcome to come. Unfortunately older children cannot be accommodated at this stage.
