Service Description

Empowered Parents is a first aid course that is intended to equip and empower parents, caregivers, grandparents and wider whanua (family) of pēpi (baby) and tamariki (children). Get trained in first aid for children, and feel empowered, equipped and confident to act in an emergency! Course is run over 2-3 hours, depending on group size. Public courses are held regularly -However also suitable to run with your group (mums and bubs, playgroup, coffee group, wider whānau) -Perfect baby shower gift for expecting parents or grandparents $60 per person, or $110 for two people in the same whānau (family/household) NZ Resuscitation council and ANZCOR guidelines Not NZQA accredited, however follows same guidelines *Courses are suitable to bring babies under 1 years old if you need to* The course covers (but is not limited to) : -Getting help in an emergency -Infant and Child basic life support techniques, including CPR -Choking prevention and management of obstructed airway -AED use -First aid topics include: -Anaphylaxis/allergies -Asthma -Head injuries -Febrile Seizure -Burns -Poisons -Recognising sickness in children -Safety in the home
